ABOUT COLLIN BETHEL JR.
Collin Bethel Jr. is a young man striving to never give up, no matter what obstacles comes his way.
Having experienced friends and family encourage, motivate, and even push forward in hard times, he immediately recognized a void and began "the work" needed to bring about change.
At the age of seven, Collin gave his favorite pair of shoes to a homeless woman while riding the public bus. He vividly recalls that cold night when he turned and asked his mother, “Mom can I give this woman my new pair of Jordans" ? With the look in his eyes, wholeheartedly his mother knew there was something different about him and immediately said "yes". As an older man noticed Collin's act of kindness, the gentleman offered Collin the sandals he had just purchased. Collin thanked the man for his offer and told him “ I have more shoes at home, I can just run from the bus stop”. Once he exited the bus, Collin ran with such joy all the way home. At that moment, he told his mother, "I want to help those in need mom". And that is what he has been doing ever since.
Never Stop
•Over the last decade, there have been several small organizations within Low-Income Communities who have provided a tremendous amount of assistance, specifically among the Youth.
•During hard times, we have notice that it is more difficult to gain the attention of our youth. When faced with adversity, it is often perceived to be embarrassing or shameful to ask for help. We want to offer a "new level" approach by utilizing the youth who are currently, and/or have been in similar situations.
•We believe that providing a "familiar face" allows the youth to be in the company of someone who can actually relate to those issues that maybe hindering them of moving forward and striving for a better future. No matter what the situation is, we want to be able to encourage and actively listen to their concerns.
•By promoting Peer Support, Leadership Coaching and other resources, we will be able to help play an important role and fill a void inside the communities who are in need of our services.
